Branch problem or tree problem
A limb over the roof and a worry about the whole tree call for different conversations. If it's the branches, we work on the branches you point out. If you're worried the tree itself could fail, pruning won't answer that, and a bigger pruning job won't fix it either.
The July 2026 storm brought hail and heavy rain to Ocala, and trees came down on homes, power lines and roads while people lost power. That's a good reason to take your trees seriously, but it doesn't tell you anything about the one in your yard. Ocala also gets high annual rainfall and a heavy humidity load that already works on a house's exterior, so it makes sense to watch what's growing close to the building.
How we reach the branches
We work with a bucket truck and an arborist climbing line. From the ground you can see the limb you want gone, but not how a crew gets to it. Which of those two we use depends on where the branch is and what's around it.
If the job turns into a removal, the method changes. When a tree can't be felled safely in one piece, we take it down from the top, using rigging to control each section on the way down. If the job includes it, we also chip the brush and grind the stump afterward.

What pruning costs
Pruning runs $200 to $800 per tree. That range is for pruning only, not for removal or clearing a lot. On a property with several trees, the useful questions are which trees are included and what we're cutting on each one, because that's what moves the price within the range.
The removal rule is separate
Florida law has a provision for removing a tree at an actively used single-family home. If the owner has a signed onsite assessment from an ISA-certified arborist or a Florida-licensed landscape architect finding the tree an unacceptable risk, local permit and fee requirements can't be imposed on the removal.
That rule applies to removal and has nothing to do with a pruning job. If you're leaning toward taking the tree down, say so when you call, so we plan it as a removal from the start.

The Job, Done Right
We do the job right the first time, clean up after ourselves, and stand behind the work.
Depending on what we find, that can mean:
- Mark the drop zone, keep ground workers clear during overhead cutting, and establish a visual or audible communication system.
- Inspect climbing and lift equipment before use, use fall protection in aerial lifts, and keep equipment at least 10 feet from power lines; contact the utility if that clearance cannot be maintained.

Straight Answers to Common Questions
What is the average price to have a tree taken down?
Tree removal typically ranges from $400 to $1,200 depending on height, location, and complexity. Larger trees or those near structures require more equipment and labor, increasing the cost. Stump grinding adds $120 to $400 for the first stump. Homeowners should request on-site assessments for accurate quotes since every property presents unique access and safety considerations.
How much does it cost to cut down a 40 ft tree?
A 40-foot tree usually falls in the $400 to $1,200 removal range. Factors such as trunk diameter, lean, nearby obstacles, and whether climbing or an aerial lift is needed affect the final price. Stump grinding is often quoted separately at $120–$400. An on-site evaluation is required to determine the exact cost.
Can seniors get trees removed for free?
Most tree removal programs for seniors are limited and depend on local nonprofit or utility assistance rather than standard service providers. Availability varies widely and often requires income or health qualifications. Homeowners should contact area agencies on aging or municipal forestry departments to learn about current eligibility and application processes.
